Clinical Aspects of Breast Imaging Discusses in 4th Annual Conference of the Breast Imaging Society of India

Chandigarh 12th November:- On the second day of the 4th Annual Conference of the Breast Imaging Society of India (BISI) the focus was on the clinical aspects of the breast imaging, changing facet of breast cancer surgery, imaging in post operative breast and role of PET-CT in breast cancer. Dr. Michael Linver from American College of Radiology discussed about the current methods and controversies related to breast cancer screening. Dr. Victoria Mango from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York delivered a talk on quality assurance in mammography and ultrasound. There was an interesting case session in the evening wherein experts discussed the imaging features of difficult cases with the postgraduate students and also shared their experience with them.
First one day workshop on “Role of Nurses in Breast Care” was inaugurated by Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary, Health, Government of Punjab at National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI, Chandigarh. She emphasized the significant role of nurses in primary and secondary prevention of breast cancer. Patricia DuCharme from RAD-AID, USA in her talk provide information about the Asha Jyoti RAD-AID Van, started by the department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, PGI, Chandigarh, under the guidance of Prof. N. Khandelwal in 2012.
In association with BISICON 2016, two days 3rd hands on workshop on Mammography Positioning for the technologists was also started at Advanced eye centre of PGI, Chandigarh. The speakers included a team of radiologists and technologist educators from RAD-AID, USA. The talks delivered were related to basic and advanced positioning in mammography, mammography in patients with breast implants and in male breasts.
