Endoscopic Spine Surgery Technique Would Curb Fear of Spine Surgery:Dr Mohinder Kaushal

Chandigarh 10th March:-  Spinal surgery has been a matter of confusion amongst physicians and patients alike. It always scares a patient whenever a surgeon suggests an Open Spine Surgery. In the wake of this concern, Trinity Hospital Education and Medical Research, under the aegis of World Endoscopic Spine Surgery Society (WESS) along with GMCH 32 Chandigarh, Punjab Orthopedics Association (POA) and Punjab Medical Council, is organizing the 10th Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Update–2017, an International CME for Surgeons for India and abroad.
The 10th Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Update - 2017 and Endoscopic Spine Surgery Workshop has been organized by Trinity Hospital, Zirakpur and Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32 Chandigarh on 11 and 12 March 2017. Delegates from India and aboard will be attending this international conference along with reputed international and national faculty in field of Minimal Invasive Spine Surgery. International faculty included Dr Jean destandau from France, Dr Kim from South Korea, Dr Abdul Halim Yusof from Malaysia.
 Dr. Mohinder Kaushal, Organizing Secretary, MISS UPDATE 2017 Endoscopic Spine and Knee Surgeons in India and Medical Director, Trinity Hospital, shared that endoscopic surgery produces better results with minor cuts, reduced hospital stay, less medicines, faster recovery and quick return to normal life activity. With more and more patients opting for endoscopic treatment, there is an increasing interest shown by surgeons to learn these techniques. He indicated that the hospital has been regularly conducting learning courses/workshops in endoscopic spine and knee surgery for the benefit of surgeons over the years. Dr Mohinder Kaushal emphasized over his redesigned “The Artho-spine System” which is cost effective system for patients. 
During the workshop there was considerable emphasis on practical skill development, hence the hands on cadavers was main part of the event. There were didactic sessions, addressing basic concepts, interactive sessions, and demonstration of live surgical techniques. There were lectures and live demonstration of endoscopic spine procedures delivered by world’s top endoscopic spine surgeons. Live surgeries demonstrated by experts who covered various aspects of Endoscopic Disectomy and Endoscopic Lumbar Canal Decompression.

Dr. Halim Yusof, Surgeon, South Korea, Secretary, World Endoscopic Spine Society, stated that it is a very proud moment for him to see his techniques being successfully implemented by the doctors all over the world. Open spine surgery traditionally has been associated with poor results due to big cuts, lot of pain, long recovery times, longer hospital stay, more medication and more chances of infection due to extensive dissection and healthy bone removal. He further said that with advent of Endoscopic spine surgery the outcome and results of spine surgery has changed dramatically. Big cuts have been reduced to small cuts, Weeks of hospital stay has been reduced to few days and hours, fast recovery, less need of medicines and quick return to activity and sports has made these techniques popular among patients
The two-day conference would be inaugurated by Prof. SS Gill, Former Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot along with Dr Atul Sachdeva, Director Principal, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh. The scientific sessions including surgeries, guest lectures, symposiums, clinical sessions, operative video sessions would be broadcasted LIVE over Cadaver from GMCH 32 Hospital, Chandigarh.
