September:- A five day workshop on the management of biorisk while working
with biological agents and toxins is being organized in the Panjab University
from Sep.11-15. 2017.
The resource persons – Cecelia Williams and Chuck Skeens
from SANDIA NATIONAL LABORATORIES, USA are involved in International Biological
and Chemical Threat Reduction Programs globally. The workshop intends to train
scientists, faculty and research scholars to enable them to reduce the biorisk to a
minimum at their work place. This is important for the biosafety of community at
large. Sensitization to issues of biosecurity including bioterrorism are also on the
agenda of the workshop. According to the organizer Prof Neena Capalash sixteen people
from throughout India are participating. This is the sixth workshop in continuation and
nearly 60 researchers have been trained on Biorisk Management at Panjab University
till now since 2014.
