24th April:- Today is a great day in the history of CCIs
i.e. Snehalaya & Ashaiana, Chandigarh when first ever Open Air Gym was
installed and dedicated to the children of homes by Kirron Kher, Member of
Parliament, Chandigarh. In the presence of Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson,
Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) and Rajesh Kalia,
Area Councilor, MC. The Open Gym includes ten major different types of
equipments for the physical growth of children. It is pertinent to mention that
after school these children stay indoor all the day and there is no such physical
activity so far in CCIs. Looking into the dire need of children involvement to
channelize their energy in right direction. Commission requested Hon’ble MP to
provide these equipments from her MP LADS fund on mother’s day.
She was very kind
enough to provide equipment worth Rs. 2.87 Lacs each in both CCIs i.e.
Snehalaya and Ashiana for boys and girls respectively. Pritpal Singh, Executive
Engineer, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh executed the project and children
of snehalaya offered their gratitude by their home made greeting cards. On this
occasion children were distributed sweets.
Kirron Kher, Member
of Parliament, Chandigarh said that “ it is the happiest moment of my life that
MP LADS funds have been used for the deprived section of Society particularly
the children. She also complemented Commission for bring this to her notice and
getting it executed.
Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR thanked the Hon’ble MP for her contribution for this Nobel Cause and said that this is real motherhood gesture which will touch every heart and inspire to contribute in the area. She requested Member parliament, Chandigarh to further get the Vocational Courses started in the CCIs.

Devi, Councilor Ward No. 6, and staff of CCPCR, District Child Protection Unit,
Snehalaya, CWC, and Councilor s were also present.
