Chandigarh 22nd November:- The Society of Nuclear
Medicine, India (SNMI) is organising its 50th Annual conference, being hosted
by the Department of Nuclear Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh from 22-25
November,2018.
The
pre-conference session comprised of joint Continuing Medical Education (CME)
lectures by members of the Indo-American Society of Nuclear Medicine (IASNM) in
collaboration with the Indian College of Nuclear Medicine (ICNM). The CME
sessions were focused on the highly relevant areas of Nuclear Medicine including
PET/CT, PET/MRI and molecular - anatomic imaging correlation. Prof. Amol
Takalkar, President IASNM and Medical Director, CMIT, BRF opened the CME
session and spoke
on the applications of PET/CT for post-treatment response assessment in various
tumors. He emphasised on the ever-increasing applications of PET/CT in the
overall management of different types of malignancies and the need for its
judicious use. The sessions were conducted in two adjacent halls in a parallel
manner and were well received by the audience. The delegates especially noted
the rich academic content to be of immense help in their early career phase.
The
Golden Jubilee conference, SNMICON’18 officially commenced with the inaugural
speech by Prof. B.R. Mittal, Head of Department of Nuclear Medicine, PGIMER,
Chandigarh and the Organizing Chairman of SNMICON’18 at the premises of the
Bhargava Auditorium of the institute. Prof. Mittal delivered the key highlights
of the 4-day conference and welcomed the national and international faculty
members, all conference delegates and the conference sponsors. He was joined by
Prof. Anish Bhattacharya, Organizing Secretary, SNMICON’18 Prof. Baljinder
Singh, President-Elect, SNMI and Prof. Rakesh Kumar, President SNMI .
