Chandigarh 01st November:- The annual sports day of The British
School was celebrated on October 30 and 31 ,2018 amidst the
respected principal Mona Sethi, Vice principal Rosy Chaudhary and the reputed
administrator Lata Bhardwaj.
The event began on 30 October 2018 with lighting of lamp
post which The Lord’s blessings were seeked by a Prayer Dance
performed by the girls of class IX and X.
A spectacular, impressive and a well synchronized march past by
the four houses Edward, Henry, George and Richard led by the NSS
group rendered the spectators speechless and awestruck. Thereafter the victory
torch was lit by the honorable principal. This was entailed by the unfurling of
the school flag and the oath ceremony. The principal, later addressed the
audience with her words of wisdom and declared the meet open.
The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the
event, was the splendid field displays, involving mass student participation,
which splattered on the field. There were races conducted not just for the
senior wing but for the primary wing as well.
The children also prepared some cultural
events for the days. The Tinker Bell and Foundation Year I students
prepared a dance which had an involvement of aerobics that not only displayed
their love for dancing but also fitness,. The Foundation Year II and III
munchkins prepared a dumbell drill that was filled with energy and enthusiasm.
The children participated in all the races with
gusto and the deserving bagged the medal. A different tradition of the school
is to award all the participants of the junior wing with consolation prize so
that no one goes back home sad. This is done to motivate the children to
perform better each time they get a chance. The foundation year students
whether winners or participants were given medals.
There were different races organized for the
children of different classes wherein they participated enthusiastically and
made the event a memorable one.
On 31 October 2018, races for the boys and
girls of VII to XII were conducted in which they performed to the best of their
abilities and bagged the medals.
Later in the end was the Dance
performance by the girls of VIII-X in beautiful dresses on the song " Kar
Har Maidan Fateh" which brought confidence and rose the zeal of the
students to perform well the next time.
