October:- Spreading the message of celebrating
Diwali in an environment friendly manner, VR Punjab, the region’s largest and
most preferred shopping destination, organised a workshop for children with the
theme - An Eco-Friendly Diwali.
As part of the three-day workshop
conducted from October 11 to 13 to drive home the importance of “clean Diwali”,
VR Punjab organised pottery, origami and art and craft workshops, in which more
than 100 children in the age group of 5-15 years participated.
The participating children, who were
taught how to make hand-painted clay pottery items like ‘diyas’, flower vases
and miniature temples, apart from many decorative articles that symbolise the
festive spirit, also prepared posters and banners to underline the importance
of environmental conservation with messages like “Save Trees, Save Earth” and
“One World, One Chance”. They also took an oath to celebrate a cracker-free
Diwali and make every effort to keep their surroundings clean and green.
While the pottery and art and craft
workshops were conducted by Ms Tanuja, who has 20 years of experience in this
field and runs her own landscaping company called “Heaven on Earth”, Ms Sahiba
Malhotra, a graduate of Government Art College, Chandigarh with five years of
experience, organised the origami workshop.
