Dish TV India Achieves ISO 27001 Certification

Chandigarh 19^th June:- Dish TV India Limited, world’s largest single country DTH Company, has achieved the ISO 27001 Certification, the international standard that sets out and describes requirements and best practices for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). Dish TV India has received ISO 27001 certification for its Noida and Greater Noida facilities.

ISO 27001, considered the gold standard for information security, ensures systematic examination of the organization’s security risks leading to design and implementation of a coherent and comprehensive suite of information security controls. The standard also includes establishing, implementing and operating an ISMS along with constant monitoring, review and improvement so that security controls meet the organization’s information security needs on an ongoing basis.

Mercedes-Benz Launches Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupé

New Delhi 18^th June:- India’s leading luxury and performance carmaker Mercedes-Benz India bolsters its position in the dream car segment with the launch of Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupé. The two-door Coupé is powered by 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with twin-scroll turbochargers, producing 450 kW of power and 900 Nm of torque, which accelerates the vehicle from stand still to 100 in mere 3.5 seconds. Raj Pal Khullar Elected as President of Punjab State Pharmacy Council

Chandigarh 18^th June:- Raj Pal Khullar was here today unanimously elected as the President of the Punjab State Pharmacy Council at the elections of the council held at Medical Sikhaya Bhawan, Mohali. Dr. Avnish Kumar, Director, Medical Education & Research, Punjab was the observer for holding the election. 

Kuldip Kumar Nanda (Member) suggested the name of Raj Pal Khullar, which was seconded by Harmesh Kumar (Member), consequent to which Raj Pal Khullar was unanimously elected as Temporary Chairman by all the present members (under rule 7(1) of the State Pharmacy Council Rules, 1951 for Election of President, Punjab State Pharmacy Council.

First Batch of Brilliance World School's Summer Camp Concludes

The students attended different workshops on art and craft, music, dance, taekwondo, cricket, lawn tennis, swimming, yoga and personality development. The students relished the first batch of summer camp as it gave them an opportunity to focus on co-curricular activities besides studies.  Students also learned team work & cooperation. The students enjoyed a lot as they interacted with each other and made new friends. This effort of the school gave them a relaxing change from normal school days. (सृजनात्मक गतिविधि उपचार) के लिए नोएडा से डा. शीनू, चित्रकला रेखण के लिए कदंब आर्ट स्टूडियो की संचालिका नीनू विज, कथा वाचन एवं शिल्प कला के लिए लुधियाना से ‘द लिटिल नर्ड एडं हर्ड, की नेहा भल्ला एवं कु. अंशिता तलवाड़,(माडल मेकिंग) चण्ड़ीगढ की महक वडेरा, प्राकृतिक निर्माण एवं मृत्तिका प्रतिरूपण के लिए चण्ड़ीगढ के मनीष, संगीत के लिए गायन संगीत में शोधकर्ता गुरूपीत और नृत्य के लिए मिक्की एकजोत को आमंत्रित किया गया।

त्वरित भाषण कला (ऐक्सटमपोर),कविता लेखन एवं वाचन और अभिनय की कक्षाएँ शीनू दानिया ने स्वयं ली। यही नहीं बच्चों को प्रकृति को सम्मान एवं उसकी देखभाल करने की आदत डलवाने के लिए प्रत्येक बच्चे को कार्यशाला के दौरान एक-एक पेड़ या पौधा गोद लेने को कहा गया। जिसे प्रतिदिन उन्होंने पानी दिया और उसे अपना मित्र बना कर उसका नाम रखा। गांधी स्मारक के प्रांगण में लगे पेड़-पौधों की जानकारी उन्हें दी गई और सामान्य ज्ञान संबन्धी प्रश्नोत्तरी भी, रखी गयी। बैटरी से रोशन होने वाले घर का माडल बनवाया गया तथा अंतिम दिन एक-एक पौधा रोपण करवाया गया। कुछ गतिविधियों के लिए आशियाना पंचकूला के बच्चे को भी आमंत्रित किया गया। बच्चों को अनेक प्रकार के तोहफे भी दिए गए। यातायात पुलिस अधिकारी ने भी बच्चों को सुरक्षा के ढंग बताए। हिन्दी शिक्षण केन्द्र शीघ्र ही गांधी स्मारक में उद्घाटित होने वाले गांधी संग्रहालय में विभिन्न प्रतियोगिताएँ आयोजित करेगा।

Panjab University organizes Lecture on “Shadows of Science and Vigyan”

Chandigarh 15^th June:- Chandigarh Vigyan Parishad, Chandigarh Chapter of National Academy of  Sciences, India and Department of Mathematics, Panjab University, Chandigarh  organized a lecture on “Shadows of Science and Vigyan” by Prof. Satish Batnagar,  University of Nevada, Los Vegas USA. 

Professor Bhatnagar did his MA in Mathematics in 1961 from the Mathematics Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He emphasized that Science is based on experimentation and basically require similar results in identical situations.  Moreover Vigyan is interpreted as Vishesh Gyan (Special Knowledge). He said that  Science started with the Newton’s Principles of Mechanics where as Vedas are said to  be the original source of Vigyan. 

Prof. Gurmeet Kaur chaired the lecture. On behalf of organizers, Prof. I B S  Passi presented a memento to the speaker. The lecture was attended by more than 70 teachers and students.

World Blood Donors Day: Alchemist Hospital Holds Blood Donation Camp

Chandigarh 14^th June:- The 60 units of blood were collected during a blood donation camp to mark World Blood Donors Day at Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula today.

Speaking during occasions, Dr G P Saluja,  senior consultant-Blood Bank said that the main objective of camp was to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood components  for patients in need.

Transfusion of blood and blood components helps save millions of lives every year. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions. He said that it also has an essential, life-saving role in maternal and child care and during the emergency response to man-made and natural disasters.

Dr G P Saluja remarked that a blood service that gives patients access to safe blood and blood components in sufficient quantity is a key component of an effective health system. An adequate supply can only be ensured through regular donations by voluntary, unpaid blood donors. However, in many countries, blood services face the challenge of making sufficient blood available, while also ensuring its quality and safety.

PGI Celebrates World Blood Donor Day

Chandigarh 14^th June:- The Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh celebrated World Blood Donor Day on June 14, 2018 by organizing three blood donation camps at Punjab Raj Bhawan in the state of art facility "Blood Mobile Van" inaugurated by Governor Punjab  & Administration, U.T., Chandigarh V.P. Badnore. He appreciated the state of the art facility of blood mobile van which is unique in its public outreach for the promotion of volunteer blood donation.

Second blood donation camp was at Bridge Market, Sector 17, Chandigarh organized by Shree Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust, Regd., Panchkula also inaugurated by Honorable Governor of Punjab and honored Plateletpheresis & whole blood donors on this occasion. Third blood donation camp was at "Blood Donation Centre" in Advanced Trauma Centre in PGIMER, Chandigarh. Voluntary blood donors were facilitated by mementoes, certificates and pens as a token of appreciation. Around 300 units of blood were collected on this occasion.

The Association is also organizing 174^th Blood Donation Camp in Blood Bank, Level-2, Block-D, GMCH-32 Chandigarh on June 17, 2018 (Sunday). This Blood Donation Camp will be inaugurated by Dr. B.S. Chavan, Director-Principal, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32 Chandigarh.

Magma to offer Scholarships to Meritorious Students from Underprivileged Families

Chandigarh 13^th June:- Magma Fincorp Ltd., has announced M Scholar, a well-recognized scholarship programme for meritorious students from underprivileged families. During the past three years, Magma had awarded scholarships to 200 students.

India is a young country aspiring to grow.  While the primary and upper primary education is free in India, a significant number of children drop out of the school because of their poor socio-economic background. Some of the reasons for this drop out include Poverty, lack of opportunities for students living in villages and poor infrastructure facilities especially for the girl children in remote parts of the country. This results in school and college drop outs of students who are otherwise talented and meritorious.    

Keeping alive the motto of ‘investing in the smallest dreams’, Magma started offering financial assistance in form of scholarships to such students in 2015 under “M-Scholar”.  Students are selected on the basis of their academic performance and socio-economic background.

Speaking to the media, Kaushik Sinha, Vice President, CSR, Corporate Communications & Admin, Magma Fincorp Ltd, elaborated on the initiative and the application procedure. “Magma is happy to announce a new batch of M-Scholar this year. Godrej Appliances Doubles its Washing Machine Manufacturing Capacity in Mohali

Mohali 13^th June:- Godrej Appliances, one of the leading players in the home appliances segment has strengthened its manufacturing capacity in Mohali by doubling the production of its washing machines to 4 lakh units per annum. This is part of the Rs. 400 Crore capacity expansion plan that the company announced last year. This will allow the brand to introduce new variants and increase flexibility for multi model production of washing machines. Furthermore, the new capacity will generate additional employment for 100 people, 75 of whom are women, who will operate the new washing machine line.

Godrej Appliances has been focusing on premiumsation, and entered the Front Load washing machine segment last year with an advanced model that incorporates the unique Allergy Protect technology. The brand also focuses on premiumization across segments by introducing innovative technologies and advanced features in its products. Godrej Appliances also launched ‘Allure series’, a fully automatic top load washing machine with ‘Roller Coaster wash’ technology. In the Semi-Automatic segment of washing machines, Godrej Appliances was the first brand to launch a model with a steel drum, an industry break through. The plant will see similar advanced products being manufactured in coming months particularly in the washing machine segment.

NZCC is organizing ‘Jammu & Kashmir Theatre Festival 2018’

Chandigarh 13^th June:- North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) in collaboration with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Chandigarh is organising ‘Jammu & Kashmir Theatre Festival 2018’ at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh from June 13 to 15, 2018. It is for the first time in the history of the country that a theatre festival dedicated entirely to one state is presented in other state.

The festival opened with a Musical Play ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ based on the life and ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Singh written by Piyush Mishra and directed by Abhishek Bharti, Nritya Natya Kunj Cultural Society, Jammu. The Play highlights the fact that though the British rule has ended yet another form of tyranny has begun. For the common man only the rule has changed but their exploitation and harassments have not ended. The play traces the relevance of Shaheed Bhagat Singh ideology in the present scenario. The play raises a question-“Is this the India of Bhagat Singh’s dream?”

The play starts in 1965 in Delhi where Battukeshwar Dutt a comrade is hospitalized and Markand Trivedi asks him “Is today’s India is really the India of Bhagat Singh dream”. The story of play then goes back to 1921 and again come back in 1994 and ends in Kanpur, where Shiv Verma another comrade of Bhagat Singh is alive. ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo highlights the ideological learning of Bhagat Singh and also tries to project his thinking pattern. Relying on the combination of Music, Dance and visual effects relating to body Theatre this play is designed as the collage comprising of the important events of Bhagat Singh’s life. With the synchronization of chorus and transformation to individual character their movements and the change over from one scene to another was affected without much ado. Director of the play very creatively portrayed prototype of socio- political scene of modern India against the background of Bhagat Singh’s Martyrdom.

Ajay Singhal, Director, Haryana Kala Parishad, Haryana appreciated all the artists and Director of Nritya Natya Kunj Cultural Society, Jammu for this beautiful play presentation in the presence of Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan, Director, NZCC, Patiala and Chairman, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Sh. Kamal Arora and other dignitaries. NZCC, Patiala honored all the artists with Certificates.

Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan has informed that the play ‘Ek Aur Birbal’ directed by Sh. Rohit Bhatt, Vemedh Rangmanch, Jammu will be staged at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh on June 14, 2018.

SCERT Releases Annual News Letter ‘SCERT SANDESH’

Chandigarh 13^th June:- National Population Education Project (NPEP) is funded by MHRD and implemented by NCERT in India for quality improvement in Govt. Schools under which various activities i.e. Advocacy and training of Teachers, Role Play, Folk Dance, Model Exhibition, Poster making and Nukkad Natak etc. are being conducted for awareness of adolescents. In UT Chandigarh the Programme is being implemented by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).    

State Core Committee meeting of National Population Education Project (NPEP) of SCERT was held today for approval of its Annual Budget 2018-19 under the chairmanship of Education Secretary B. L. Sharma. During the meeting Director, SCERT apprised the committee members about the activities conducted in 2017-18 and presented Plan of Action for the session 2018-19. Annual News Letter ‘SCERT SANDESH’ was released by the Education Secretary B.L. Sharma,  in the presence of Director Higher Education R.K. Popli, Chairman Advisory Committee PEP.
