Continental Wins Inter-College Cross Country Championship

Chandigarh 03rd October:- A beautiful morning, quite lively surroundings and just waking-up city, marked the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU, Bathinda), Inter-College Cross Country Championship(Men & Women)organized by the Continental Group of Institutes, Jalvehra. More than 100 students in 13 teams of colleges affiliated with MRSPTU, Bathida took part in this. Dr. J. S. Hundal (Registrar, MRSPTU) graced the event as the chief-guest and gave away the prizes. The Director, Dr. M. S. Grewal flagged off the race at 6AM. Boys and girls full of enthusiasm ran for 12.5 kms and 4 kms respectively.
In men category, Continental Institute of Engineering & Technology (CIET), Jalvehra team won the championship trophy while MIMIT, Malout team bagged the runners-up trophy. Jajwinder Singh (MIMIT, Malout) won the individual Gold medal with46.53minand Prabhat Kumar (MIMIT, Malout) won silver medal, while Amanpreet Singh of CIET, Jalvehra bagged the bronze medal. In women category, Alpine Institute, Moga won the championship trophy while MIMIT, Malout bagged the runners-up trophy. Veerpal Kaur (BHSBIET, Lehragaga) won the individual Gold medal with17.56min.
Dr. M. S. Grewal boosted up the morale of the runners by deliberating the essence and importance of team effort. He urged the students to make best use of the facilities provided including the Sports Complex, Gymnasium etc. for improving their fitness.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Hundal lauded the efforts of the organizing team for successfully organizing the event and assured full support from the University for such Noble Initiatives. He asserted that the students should work hard to fulfill their dreams. He also motivated the students to demonstrate a civic sense and patriotic values which are declining now days.
At the end, the Sports Officer Prof. Gurmail Singh Gill extended warm gratitude to S. Mohinder Singh (Distt. Sports Officer, Mansa) for acting as the observer and Dr. Sukhvinder Singh (MRSPTU), Dr. Jasvir Singh(Punjabi University, Patiala)for their kind support to make the event a great success.
