October:- Mohali has withness one another Forum in the town today. Today is Air Force Day and it marked the
launch of a female led forum by the name of “Girls Rise for Mohali”. The forum
has been conceptualized and initiated by Opinder Preet Kaur, who is the serving
Councillor of Mohali Corporation from ward no. 29. The form was launched
officially today at the Neighbourhood Park, Phase Xi, Mohali
The
main purpose behind the formation of this forum is to give a chance and
platform to all those girls and women who wish to do something for the society.
The forum will spread awareness about various social issues prevailing in the
present time and will also promises for
the enhancement of the abilities of its members by giving them
opportunities through various self development programmes like self defense,
fitness, career counseling, etc.
The
launch of the forum was dedicated to the “safai staff”of the Mohali city as a
gesture of acknowledgement of their work in keeping our city clean and healthy.
In the session the female safai staff was sensitized about their right to avail
free legal aid from the District Legal Services Authority.
The
initiator of the forum Opinder Preet kaur while addressing the audience laid
emphasis on the need for education to the female members of the family. She
laid stress that the upliftment of our gender can only be achieved if equal
rights and opportunities for education are given. She promised that this forum will
stand up not only for uplifting the women, but where ever there will be a need
to voice community issues, the forum will be in support.

Savita Sasodia and adv. Sukhpreet Kaur Kang represented the DLSA and spread
awareness about the legal rights and schemes available for the under
privileged. The first set of members of “Girls Rise for Mohali”were present
sporting their women power t-shirts. Gurinder Kaur Rai, Aneeta Sabdish, Yuvika
Grewal, Deepinder Kaur Shergill, Kishnita Singh, Dr. Sukhmanpreet Kaur,
Gurpreet Bhatti, Rohini, Shaifali Thapar and others were present as the first
enrolled members of GRM.
