Chandigarh
08th October:- A special drive was conducted today at Sector 37 A and B jointly
by Municipal Corporation and Malaria wing Chandigarh. Team was led Dr Gaurav
Aggarwal and staff from Municipal Corporation. One more team was led by
Assistant Director Malaria along with State Epidemiologist at EWS colony
Dhanas .Under this drive, house to house visits were made. It
was observed that major source of breeding is in house containers and coolers
alongwith garbage dumps in these areas.
In the presence of
prominent persons of the area, fogging was done at Vikas Nagar, Charan Singh
colony, Village Kajheri , Palsora and sector 55. Today, fogging
will be done at sector 15, sector 37 A and B, Maloya Colny and Maloya village,
CBI colony by vehicle mounted and hand held fogging machines.
Today 9 cases of Dengue
has been reported from various health institutions which includes 5 new cases
and4 confirmed amongst probable cases(till the release of press note)which
brings the total number of Dengue cases to 531 in the city.1 fresh cases of
Chickungunya have been reported by GMCH 32 and PGIMER. The details of 77 cases
of Chickungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 23 imported, 22 wrong address and 32
from Chandigarh.
To further strengthen the
preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith
strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of
breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources.
