World Diabetes Day:Diabetes Can Be Managed Through Medication,Lifestyle Changes:Experts

Chandigarh 14th November:- Awareness is the first step in the challenging battle against diabetes.” In keeping with this theme of World Diabetes Day this year, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali organised a free camp on the prevention and early detection of diabetes today.  Around 200 people attended the camp and got their myths, doubts and questions on disease cleared from experts. 
During occasion, the people were trained to fight against diabetes. Special discounted packages were launched for diabetes and thyroid screening for those attending the camp.
The patient education videos were also shown and printed educational material were given to the patients along free consultations with experts besides insulin carrying kits distribution and diabetes quiz, drawing competition etc. 
Dr S K Mathur, Head, Department of Endocrinology said that diabetes is a silent killer that can be managed through medication and lifestyle changes. When it comes to healthy living, and making better food decisions, it can often be overwhelming, especially if you are living with diabetes.
Sandeep Dogra, Senior Vice President and Zonal Head, Max Hospitals, Punjab said that we have planned this camp with an aim to help increase awareness about diabetic complications. We need to work together to provide people with healthy choices to combat diabetes, including resources to help people make the right choice when it comes to what they eat. The latest estimates from the IDF Diabetes Atlas indicate that there are 387 million people living with diabetes worldwide.
