MCM Awarded Prizes to 400 Students During its Annual Prize Distribution Function

Chandigarh 22nd March:- In recognition of the exceptional achievements of its students in academics, sports and cultural activities, MCM DAV College For Women awarded prizes to a total of 400 students during its Annual Prize Distribution function. H.E. Kalyan Singh, Hon'ble Governor of Rajasthan graced the occasion with his presence as the Chief Guest and Capt.Abhimanyu Singh, Finance Minister, Government of Haryana was the Guest of Honour. Dr.Kulbir Chhikara, Member, HPSC, H.R. Gandhar, Advisor to President DAV College Managing Committee (DAV CMC), Rajinder Nath, Vice President, DAV CMC Principals of various colleges were also present.
The function commenced with the presentation of Annual Report by the Principal of the college, Dr. Nisha Bhargava. The report provided glimpses of the commendable achievements of the college during the academic year. To honor and motivate the meritorious students, cash prizes and trophies worth Rs. 4  lakhs, college colors and special prizes were awarded. Nancy Kanwar (MA-Sociology II) was awarded Roll of Honor for her outstanding performance in academics while the Roll of Honor for overall best performance in cultural activities went to Simran Chaudhary (BA III). The stupendous performance of Bhawna (BA II) in sports won her the Overall Best in Sports prize. The college teams which brought laurels to the college at the zonal and inter-zonal youth festivals through their outstanding showcase of talent were also awarded at the function. It was a nostalgic moment for some of the alumni of the college who were also honored during the function for their inspiring contribution in various fields; the alumni honored being Sr. Adv. Reeta Kohli, Additional Advocate General (Punjab), Ms.Yojana Rawat, Chairperson, USOL, PU and Ms. Monica Gupta, Principal, Shemrock Wonders Pre School, Greater Mohali.
The faculty members of MCM were also felicitated for their inspiring achievements including 5 who completed their Doctorate degrees, 7 who published books, 6 who co-authored books and 1 who co-edited a book. Dr. Meera Madan, Former Head of Department of Music Instrumental of the College was felicitated for her generous donation to promote the deserving students of Music department of the college. Ms. Neena Sharma, Associate Professor, English Department and Dr. Mridula Sharma, Assistant Professor, English Department were also honored for paper presentations at International Conferences at Dubai and Barcelona, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Governor Kalyan Singh expressed appreciation for the emphasis laid on the holistic development of the students at MCM that is evident in the achievements of the students in various fields. He also motivated the students to play a constructive role in the society.

Dr. Nisha Bhargava, MCM Principal congratulated the prize winners for keeping alive the inimitable tradition of excellence of MCM. Advising the students to never rest on their laurels, Dr. Nisha exhorted them to work towards their goals with focused determination.
