Rai, Adviser to the Administrator Chandigarh congratulated President P.S.
Matharoo of Rotary Club of Chandigarh for planning to setup a Rotary Health
Education Centre in the city.
He was addressing the Rotarians of the
club at the installation function of the new team of leadership for 2017-18 at
CII here today.
The Adviser promised all support to
Rotary’s efforts from Chandigarh Administration, especially the initiatives
envisaged by P.S. Matharoo and his team including promotion of organ donation,
road safety, and making Chandigarh ‘no-honking city’.
Parimal Rai added that every individual
in whatever capacity he or she is working can make a difference in the lives of
their fellow beings just as the Rotarians throughout the world are always
thinking about.
President Matharoo said that the club
would continue to further strengthen its ongoing projects of Rotary Heartline
under which over 767 heart surgeries have already been done since 1998, and
would undertake promotion of blood and organ donation in the city through an
integrated campaign.
The club would be also be working to
setup libraries in government schools and another 20 schools shall receive the
handwash stations, and toilets would repaired under the Rotary’s Water and
Sanitation programme.
Earlier the outgoing president Neenu
Vij presented the report of club’s achievements on various fields and later
presented the collar of presidentship to President Matharoo.
Past Rotary International President
Rajendra K Saboo that the Rotary leadership changes throughout the world on 1st of
July, which helps the Rotary around the world get fresh ideas and newer
enthusiasm from the Clubs.
He informed that the Club would be
taking a team of doctors and paramedics to Mongolia this year as a part of the
annual Intercontinental Medical Mission.
