Infosys Announces the Winners of Infy Maker Awards in India

In the first Indian edition, 20 winners were selected from more than 280 entries and more than 2,500 registrations. The winners were selected by a panel of distinguished judges representing technology, academia and the business community. The jury, comprising Kiran Mazumder Shaw, Chairperson & Managing Director, Biocon; Rama Bijapurkar, Author; Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Aarin Capital Partners; and Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Infosys, evaluated and selected the winning entries that were relevant to real-world problems, used technology in an innovative way, displayed originality of ideas and brought forward quality presentations.

Lager & Barrel Festival Live Streamed on Hungama Platforms

कथा व्यास परम् पूज्यनीय आचार्य तिलकमणी शास्त्री जी महाराज ने श्रद्धालुओं की कथा में कालिया नाग की कथा, इंद्र के अभिमान को खत्म करने के लिए भगवान ने अपनी कनिष्ठका उंगली के नाखून पर गोवर्धन पर्वत का उठाने की कथा, महारास लीला की कथा, अपने मामा कंंस का उद्धार, भगवान का गुरूकुल प्रवेश, जरासंध का वध, द्वारिका का निर्माण तथा रक्मणी के विवाह का प्रसंग व कथा का श्रवण करवाया। उन्होंने बताया कि भगवान उस व्यक्ति को धारण करते हैं जिसके अंदर छल कपट द्वेष भाव, पाखंड न हो जो अंदर से बिल्कुल खाली हो। 

उन्होंने बताया कि वेदों पुराणों में सबसे बड़ा धर्म सत्य है, पांडवों के साथ सत्य धर्म था क्योंकि युधिष्ठर धर्म रूप, भीम बल के रूप में, अर्जुन आत्मा के रूप में, नकुल ज्ञान,सहदेव रूप में तथा द्रोपदी  दया रूप में थी। इस संदर्भ में धर्म के साथ सत्य रहेगा तो जीवन सफ ल है, बल का प्रयोग धर्म में किया जाये तो जीवन सफ ल है, आत्मा का कल्याण धर्म से ही होता है,ज्ञान धर्म के लिए किया जाए तो जीवन सफ ल है और रूप का प्रयोग धर्म के रूप में हो तो जीवन सफ ल है। 

इस अवसर पर कथा व्यास आचार्य तिलकमणी शास्त्री जी महाराज द्वारा भजन गाया गया जिसमें श्रद्धालु मंत्र मुग्ध होकर झूम उठे।

FC Goa Get First Pre Season Win with Victory over CR Flamengo

Chandigarh 23^rd September:- FC Goa got its first pre-season win in Rio de Janeiro with a superb 1-0 victory over Brazilian heavyweights CR Flamengo. Dynamic Brazilian striker Rafael Coelho was on hand to tap in a loose ball after the opposition goal-keeper made a save from a Robin Singh shot in the 55th minute. Thereafter, the Indian side defended resolutely and held out for a memorable win.

Zico employed a traditional 4-4-2 formation for the first time in Rio with a solid defence comprising skipper Lucio who partnered youngster Rafael Dumas. Fulganco Cardozo and Raju Gaekwad occupied the full back positions. In midfield, Joffre took up an attacking role with Sanjay Balmuchu, Trindade Goncalves and Richarlyson Barbosa complementing him in the middle of the park. Robin Singh and Rafael Coelho lead the attack for FC Goa while Laxmikant Kattimani took up his position in goal.

The first half was a cagey affair with neither side taking a foothold on the match. FC Goa defended very deep and invited pressure from the opposition which they dealt with effectively. There weren't too many chances for either team to take the lead. Both sides exercised a degree of caution towards the end of the half as the match remained goalless going into the break.

It was a much improved second half from both sides, as they ventured forward in search of an opener. There were no changes at the break for the Indian side as Zico kept faith with his playing 11 for the second period. Joffre missed two gilt-edged chances within two minutes to put his side in front after he shot wide from a decent angle and then his attempted lob over the keeper sailed over the bar. FC Goa exerted a good amount of pressure on the Brazilians and were finally rewarded in the 55th minute when Gaikwad found Robin behind the defence. The Indian striker's shot however, was parried by the goal-keeper into the path of the onrushing Coelho who made no mistake from a few yards out. After taking the lead, FC Goa showed good composure on the ball and took control of the game.

Sports Department Hosts 14th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament

Chandigarh 23^rd September:- The Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration is organizing the 14^th edition of Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament (U-17 Boys) from 22^nd to 30^th September, 2016 at Chandigarh Football Academy Ground, Sports Complex, Sector 42, Chandigarh and Football Stadium, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

The Sports Department initiated the hosting of the All India Football Tournament (U-17 Boys) to give exposure to the academy boys as well as to popularize the event with utmost efforts at All India level under the aegis of All India Football Federation. Now it has scaled a height where around 13 outside teams & 3 local teams have confirmed participation in it.

The 14^th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournaments for boys under-17 years being held from September 22 to September 30-2016 has prominent teams in action. Meeting Held for General Elections of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh

Chandigarh 23^rd September:- A meeting was held today at the UT guest house regarding arrangements to be done for the smooth conduct of General Elections of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh likely to be held in the month of December, 2016. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Rakesh Mehta, State Election Commissioner, U.T., Chandigarh in the presence of Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary-cum- Secretary Local Government, Ajit Balaji Joshi, Deputy Commissioner-cum- Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. S.B. Deepak Kumar, Special Secretary Personnel, Kriti Garg, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Amit Talwar, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Director Transport, Virender Chaudhary, Joint Commissioner, MC and Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education.

The Secretary Local Government intimated that general elections to M.C.C. will be held from the existing 26 wards. The reservation of five wards for scheduled caste candidates for the upcoming general election to the Corporation shall be made afresh on the basis of maximum percentage of scheduled caste population as shown in the latest Census of 2011 and defined in Sub-Section (36A) of Section 2 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976 as extended to U.T. Chandigarh. 

The State Election Commissioner intimated that the reservation of wards for S.C. (including S.C.(Women) & Women will be made through draw of lots on 14^th October, 2016.

During the meeting discussions and decisions were made on the proper arrangements to be done by various departments prior to the General Elections for 26 wards in the month of December, 2016, Adoption of Modern Technology as a Pilot Project during the General Elections 2016 on selected polling booths, Adequate measures will be adopted to increase the percentage of voting by creating awareness regarding the General Elections 2016 through various activities like advertisements, publicity material and promotions., Persuasion to the general public through media to get their names registered as electors before the last date of filing of nominations by the contesting candidates, People to be educated and informed about the General Elections 2016 by deploying Booth Level Officers to distribute voting slips in every household, The Election Commission desired that the Chandigarh Administration will impose ban on the transfer of officers and officials of the Chandigarh Administration during the period from 15^th October to 20^th December, 2016 in the interest of smooth polling and the District Magistrate & the Chandigarh Police will make adequate arrangements for the proper implementation of the Model Code of Conduct and provisions of Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007 as extended to U.T. Chandigarh. 

GGSCW organizes Seminar on 'Life of a Pi: Its History,Mystery & Transcendence'

Chandigarh 23^rd September:- Department of Mathematics of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh  organized an expert talk on 'Life of a Pi: Its history, mystery & transcendence' followed by interactive session. Students of Bachelor of Science actively participated in the expert talk.

Dr. Surinder Pal Singh, Assistant Professor, Center for advanced studies in mathematics, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the resource person. Dr. Surinder enlightened the students about Transcendence of Pi (π) & its significance in mathematics & other areas.

He told that Pi (π) has become more popular because of its applications in formulae used in various branches of science such as computers, Cosmology, Number Theory, statistics, fractals, thermodynamics, mechanics and electromagnetism. The ubiquity of π makes it one of the most widely known mathematical constants both inside and outside the scientific community. He talked about Lindemann–Weierstrass theorem & told that the theorem is very useful in establishing the transcendence of numbers. A classical problem dating to antiquity is the question of squaring the circle. This problem consists of constructing a square equal in area to a given circle using only a straight edge and compass and a finite number of steps. This turned out to be a rather difficult problem that was unsolved until 1882, when Lindemann proved that squaring the circle was impossible. The proof consists of showing that Pi is transcendental, which means that there is no polynomial with rational coefficients whose solution is Pi. The Lindemann proof and its subsequent generalizations bring us to topics of a very modern flavor in mathematics.

Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, Principal GGSCW guided the students to be an active part of these kinds of expert talks that will make them understand the practical applications of the mathematics in various fields.

ਇਥੇ ਇਹ ਵਰਣਨਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਫੋਗਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਮੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਕਰਵਾਕੇ  ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਓ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਮੇਅਰ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ/ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ/ ਫੈਕਟਰੀਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਦੀ ਛੱਤ ਤੇ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਟੈਂਕੀਆਂ ਢੱਕ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਣ, ਕੱਪੜੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪਹਿਨੋ ਕਿ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੁਰੀ ਢੱਕਿਆਂ ਹੋਵੇ, ਟਾਇਰਾਂ, ਵਾਧੂ ਪਏ ਵਰਤਨਾਂ, ਗਮਲਿਆਂ, ਡਰੰਮਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਇਕੱਠਾਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ, ਕੂਲਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ ਹਰ ਹਫਤੇ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਫਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ, ਆਪਣਾ ਆਲਾ ਦੁਆਲਾ ਸਾਫ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਾ ਤੇਲ ਪਾਓ । ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਫਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੱਛਰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦਾ ਮੱਛਰ ਦਿਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਕੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਬੈਰਲ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਏਡੀਜ਼ਅਜੈਪਟੀ ਮੱਛਰ ਦੇ ਕੱਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਫੈਲਦਾ ਹੈ। 

ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ ਦੇ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਰਾਜੇਸ ਧੀਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੈਕਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੁਲਰਾਂ, ਟੈਰਾਂ , ਗਮਲਿਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਰਵਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਚਲਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਉਨਾ੍ਹਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਫੌਗਿੰਗ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ, ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਅਤੇ ਖਿੜਕੀਆਂ ਖੁਲੀਆਂ ਰੱਖਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੱਛਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਾਤਮਾ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ।
