10th November:- Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister for Cultural Affairs &
Tourism, inaugurated the 3-day 17th All-India
Poetess Conference ( AIPC ) at Punjab Arts Council here today. The
conference is being organized in collaboration with the Punjab Art
Council.
Over 350 poetess from all
parts of India and 14 foreign countries, attired in their traditional dresses,
took part in the conference.
The prominent poetess who
are taking part are ; Dr Stream Lete from Shillong, Pooja Gupta from Nepal,
Guridner Gill from Malaysia , Veena Budki from Kashmir and Dr Supriya P and Dr
C. Radhamani both from Kerela, Sunita Murti from Karnataka , Rana Meer from
Dubai and Surjeet Kalki from Canada.
While
welcoming Navjot Singh Sidhu, Simrat Sumera, conference convener said
that we at AIPC feel honoured and privileged to have full support of him. It
was under his patronage that we have succeeded to conduct such a large scale
conference.
Speaking during
occasion, Navjot Singh Sidhu said that women occupy a prominent place in the society and they are the
axis of purity, goodness and gentleness around which the well-being and
progress of any society revolves.
He said that such
occasions symbolize the women power and clearly signifies the trend that sees
them taking their deserving and rightful place in the society around the globe.
Calling the present
occasion a special one in the annals of Punjab, the minister said that it is
heartening to see famous poetesses from all around the country lending grace to
this prestigious event. He also said that such events act as a unifying force
with people from diverse backgrounds gathering at a common place and getting to
know about the culture, traditions, art, literature, customs and history of the
other states thus strengthening the ideology of unity in diversity.
Divulging about the steps
being taken to give a fillip to the art, literary and cultural activities,
Navjot Singh Sidhu announced the approval of Rs. 2.01 crore grant to the Punjab
Kala Parishad and Rs. 33 lakh to the each of the 3 academies, Punjab Sahit
Academy, Punjab Lalit Kala Academy and Sangeet Natak Academy, functioning under
the Punjab Kala Parishad.
Padmashree, Surjit
Patrar , Cha irman of PAC said that lingual harmony is the need of the hour as
it is a perfect way to achieve synchronization among the vastly different
cultures existing in the country. He also reiterated that the Punjab Kala
Parishad would leave no stone unturned to ignite the fire of renewed awareness
about Punjab's culture and historical heritage at the grassroots level.
Dr. Lari Azad,
founder-AIPC said that apart from Punjabi, poetess of languages such as
Kannada, Bangla, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Urdu, Hindi, Kashmari are taking part
in it. The
conference is a great platform for the people of India to share literature,
culture and culture of Punjab.”
On
first day of conference today, sessions on Multilingual Kavya Dhara ,
Parvasi Punjabi Kavita and South Indian Kavya Dhara were held.
During occasion, around
2-dozne books of poetess including AIPC own souvenir, Journal of Humanities and
Social Science (JHSS) and International magazine ‘Kaljayee’ November
editions were released by Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The other released books
are; Dr Anju Singh’s authored ‘Rashtrapati Saashan’, Dr Sandeep’s
authored ‘Gandhi ji aur Hindi patarkaarita’ and Dr Shakti Bodh’s authored
‘Karamveer were also released. The there books are published by AIPC itself.
Jyoti Narayan from
Telegana English poetry book ‘Shabd Jyoti’ was also released besides Krishan
Bhanot from Canada Punjabi book ‘Gazal Di Bantar’ and Surinder Singh Seerat
from US Punjabi book ‘Aroope Harf’.
