10th November:- The hallowed land of Kurukshetra is known as the pivot of Indian
Culture and Spirituality through the ages. On the sacred banks of river Saraswati
the epoch ending battle of Mahabharta was fought at the end of Dwaper
Yuga. On the eve of this battle the eternal message of Bhagwad gita was
delivered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna to wipe out his delusion and despondency.
Every year on the 11th day of bright fortnight
of the month of Margshirsha, the birth anniversary of Bhagavadgita is
celebrated, which some time falls in the month of November or in
December. This year it falls on 30th November,
2017. The Government of Haryana since last year is celebrating the
festival of GITA JAYANTI (anniversary of Srimad Bhagwad Gita) as International
Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra. Various religious, educational and social
organizations from all over India in association with Kurukshetra Development
Board, Haryana organizes activities like Gita Path, Yoga Camps, Gita
Exhibitions, Book Fair on Gita, Heritage Craft Fair, Mediation Camps,
International Gita Seminar and International Cultural Events etc. The
Hon’ble President of India has given his kind consent to inaugurate the
International Gita Mahotsav this year on 25th November, 2017.
Looking ahead to the current year celebrations National
Integrated Forum of Artists and Activist, a leading socio cultural organisation
of Haryana today visited Chandigarh to spread out a message for
the International Gita Mahotsav 2017 to be held in Kurukshetra from 17th November
to 3rd December 2017. The Department of Cultural
Affairs, Chandigarh Administration organised cultural event for the same
in Post Graduate College for Girls, Sector 42 Chandigarh where in members
of the Gita Sandesh Bharat Yatra came forward to spread the concept and message
of this festival of spirituality and cultural realms. Rakesh Kumar Popli,
Director Higher Education was the chief guest of the event.
Gita Sandesh Bharat Yatra team presented the choreography on
Bhagwad GITA with the help of cultural department and screened a documentary on
Kurukshetra and International Gita Mahotsav. The Team also presented coffee
table book on the historical importance and International GITA Mahotsav to the
Chief Guest.
On the day of Gita Jayanti on 30th November a
Global Chanting of 18 Shlokas of Gita is being organized from 12 noon to
15.15 pm with the help of various voluntary & spiritual organizations
in different parts of the globe.
