Inauguration of Academic Session 2018-19 Held at NIPER

Chandigarh 03rd August:- If the homework is not done, the taste of the recipe will be never be tasty; Take wise decisions in your initial years of your academics; something try differently with your heart and soul to find out your own ways of success in your life. Develop your personality as disciplined person, timely commitment breaks any barriers these were the remarkable words of Dr. Sanjit Singh Lamba; the Managing Director of Eisai Pharmaceuticals India Pvt. Ltd., Visakhapatnam,; who was the chief guest of  today at NIPER’s Inauguration of Academic Session 2018-19. In short,  a thought provoking & an eye opener lecture was delivered by Dr. Lamba to the newly joined Masters & PhDs students of NIPER, S.A.S. Nagar.
The event was organized at NIPER’s convention centre with a warm welcome of the dignitaries and lamp lighting followed by “Saraswati Vandana”.  A welcome note delivered by The Director NIPER, Prof. NIPER Director, Prof. Raghuram Rao Akkinepally. In his welcome address,  he briefed the audience about NIPER background and the achievements of the NIPER students & staff. He explained that the curriculum is interdisciplinary and the students are exposed to sophisticated instruments required in the pharmaceutical industry. He informed that our aim is also to act as a nucleus of academia-industry interaction, and for that, we have a number of service centers which cater to the needs of the pharma industry. It is my belief that academic institutes and teachers, in particular, have a crucial role to play in bridging the gap between the trained manpower that academic institutes generate and the demands of the pharma sector. I believe that NIPER S.A.S. Nagar will be able to fulfill this promise.
Dean, NIPER, Prof. P.V. Bharatam introduced the Chief Guest to the audience. He briefed about the academia and industrial profile of Dr. Sanjit Singh Lamba.
Dr. Sanjit Singh Lamba delivered the lecture on “Indian Pharmaceutical Industry, Changing times. “The agenda of the lecture includes Snapshot of India Pharmaceutical Industry, Road of Opportunities, Challenges,  an overview of Eisai India were discussed. He stated that India Indian Pharma Market is a leading Pharma producer and one of the highest exports among fastest growing industries of the world. There is a rapid growth in healthcare sector. India has contributed not just to the health outcomes in India but also globally. 60%+ of global vaccine production, 30%+ Annual UNICEF supply globally are some of them. We continue to drive availability of high  quality drugs at low costs. Under the Position in Infrastructure & Capabilities Production costs for commodity generics continue to be low in India—the country ranks lowest in conversion costs, 50% lower than the US or UK and other developed countries. India has strong capabilities in generics R&D. However, many instances of quality issues related to products manufactured in India have surfaced. Drug quality is one of the major challenges been faced by the industry & has been reported extensively in the public domain. Under the “Make in India”. He informed about the philosophy of the Eisai Group’s corporate to give first thought to patients and their families and to increasing the benefits health care provides. At the end of his lecture he advised students to establish yourself, remain flexible/adjustable and do not be rigid specially .He congratulated all the NIPER students to get the opportunity to work in globally recognized the best Academia institution The NIPER S.A.S. Nagar, that has set a bench mark to the pharmaceutical education.
